Revised form now available from the ATF for download.

Application/Permit for Temporary Importation of Firearms and Ammunition by Nonimmigrant Aliens

    OMB No. 1140-0084 (11/30/2017)

The revised application addresses the change in law that states Non-VISA visitors to the USA don't need a Hunting License or Shoot Invitation.

If you DON'T need a VISA to enter the USA, you still need this form to temporarily import firearms and ammunition into the USA. You just don't require the supporting documents that were required in the past.

As in the past I've make the form typeable for ease of preparation.

The form has been modified. Type information from your keyboard.

Wouldn't it be nice if we Yankees could enter Canadian events without the current bureaucratic difficulties?

You can arrive at the Canadian border and process a permit for rifles or shotguns (and ammunition) and receive approval on the spot. Cost $25 Canadian for a 60 day permit. NO HANDGUNS!

Stop first at US customs and fill out the proper form (free) so you can return with your firearms with no hassle. Takes only a few minutes and you can do it a head of time (a one time process as long as the form is legible).

If you have not left the country for a few years, to re-enter the USA you need either a Passport, passport card, on an enhanced state drivers license. Enhanced drivers license cannot be used for flying.

I live in NY and shoot in Ontario and Quebec a couple dozen times a year......

My website has a dedicated page for entering Canada with a firearm, as well as the one I maintain for visitors to the US.

Thanks to Joe's website I had no problem at the border crossing on my first visit to shoot at the Hamilton GC in 2008.

A few yeas later I shot at St. Thomas another of the historic gun clubs. I had a wonderful time at both places and made a lot of new friends.

Thanks Joe for all you have done over the years to help shooters.
