I have a 686 from Cabelas. It has the same finish as my 687. Beretta's only comment is that it is a oil finish. A seller of Berettas said it is not an oil finish. Cant sand the comb without knowing. Help please.

And on a side note you would be surprised what you can do with Tru-Oil.

Patients and tru oil will give you a finish second to none ... I used Bee's wax to protect the finish on my guns, that also works great .... The more you put on the better it looks (several coats) , and its not slippery ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Made to look like old style oil but I think poly.

I had a 687 and now have DT-11 same finish, and use Howards Feed -n- Wax, you can get it at Home Depot in the stain and paint section. Joel Etchen sells it too on his website for his guns. Stuff works great and is not slimy. Steve

Howards is a good product to take care of the Beretta stock but it is not something you would use to re-apply a finish. jmho

Ask Dave Berlet what he uses on Beretta Stocks, he's done many of them.
