I Communicate directly now in writing to the person responsible in that particular area. am not enthused with the present ATA President
or the past ones, as they do not communicate with the membership, or the Life Members, I have asked the IRS to audit the books of the ATA, I personally feel they are not complying with the Guidelines of the 501(c3) requirements. They have 2 organizations on the books The ATA and the WTA. I am keeping personal records of what I feel is wrong doing, I will not reveal any of this to anyone. The ATA knows this and they are cooperating better now than ever before.

My leading item is the cost of the Horse Barn they built for $2.1 Million for 8600 Sq Ft. I got numerous bids for similar buildings w/same design and costs, which I posted here earlier as an example

I have no doubt you are getting some responses, but they are only going to tell you what they want you to hear Period, NADA, nothing more, nothing less ... The operations of the EC, ED, and some of the BOD are about as transparent as Obama's foreign policy's ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Doc, $244 per square foot sounds a little steep for a simple 8600 sf building. Why don't you ask to see the plans and the bids, maybe this is some specialized building with a large commercial kitchen, large bathrooms, multiple floors etc.

The only thing the ATA has to do with what you call the "horse barn" is making a donation. The HOF is who you have to look at for that goat ropeing.. They are separate corporations entirely.

Doc, did you include the special HVAC issues and fire suppression systems etc in your bid process?

Separated best with a scalpel don't you think Flalagarto. The current ATA director serves on the board of the HOF. Signed agreements for the HOF and signed agreements for the ATA. Past presidents serve on the HOF boards as soon as they get their free $20,ooo gun.

Then there is Bradford that was on the relocation committee for the ATA and was a big part of the HOF building and lease fiasco. He got to vote himself into the HOF for what he did as a member of the ATA.

Then there is the other issue that they share the same money. As stated the ATA gave $250k to the HOF that ended up in a building owned by the State of Illinois.

The HOF is the anchor baby for the ATA. Same people. Different piece of paper and both now share the letters ATA.

The State of Illinois owns the building. They deserve the best don't they? :D:D:D:D

Only question is whether the next owners will put in a few dancing poles or prison cells.

So this is the first arrangement of it's kind. the landlord owns the building, the tenant does the build out?

    Duffk,

despite what we see here, we both know its a fairly common occurrence in commercial transactions. Just look at all those fast food franchise buildings as outparcels in shopping centers.

That said, I don't see it being a good idea for the HOF, especially with the easy termination clause with no damages to tenant.

For accuracy......how many shooting organizations built a $2.1 million dollar building for a gun hate state. A building the shooting org can never own. And how many of on that list pay rent after creating that building? Must be a bunch?

For the sake of accuracy please list some of those organizations.

Comparing the HOF which is a 501 C 3, to a McDonalds in a plaza that is already built is a bit silly don't you think?

Frankly FG, I find your post rather "silly."

I was pointing out that this is a common transaction in real estate. I also pointed out I didn't think it was a good idea for the HOF. I made no comparison of the HOF to a McDonalds, actually I was saying one was common and the other not a good idea.

In reality, whether the HOF owns its building or not probably made no difference here, as it would have no real value to anyone else being "landlocked" such as it is. Better than nothing, but not all that great even if owned.

They should have put the HOF, in NY, in between the baseball and boxing halls.

No...it is not "better than nothing." Having nothing would be better. Nothing might have implied having the monies donated / wasted and making a better decision. A decision like getting the building and land for free. That was the alternative offer.

Taking $250K from the ATA and giving it to the State of Illinois is not "better than nothing." It is dumber than anything.

You get sillier with each post FG. I made no comparisons to CC's alternative offer. Was only commenting that in the current Sparta location, it really would make little difference whether ATA owned the building or not. It only makes good business sense if you expect to have a long presence there, which the HOF probably expected, but the possibility that it could be cancelled for no cause really makes it seem untenable considering the dollar amounts involved.

At least the $250k was a tax write off for the ATA. The rest of the money was private donations, so why would anyone care about that money, is beyond me.

    Duff....the ATA does not pay taxes. 501 c 3

The money could have been used in far better ways than giving the money to the State of Illinois. That is why the delegates were not told they were not going to own the building.

How can someone post so much and understand so little?
