The tv station doesn't have a clue as to the facts. Info probably given to them by ATA leaders.

 

Interest is growing by leaps and bounds on the news a major Government Official will participate in a celebrity exhibition. While State Government officials have a couple chuckles. Yeah, then I told the guy from that gun nut group you would probably attend. Can't wait to see the reaction when they find out what they've agreed too.

 

It seems the news has already hit Washington. Seriously, Rahm told Rauner and the IDNR guys how to do it? Jesus, they screwed those stupid gun nuts big time. Friday's going to be great!

 

If you guys think this is good for American Trapshooter, which is supposedly a positive outlook at good trapshooters prospectives you all need some counseling.

Gipson said a basic framework has been agreed upon. He said details are expected to be released in a formal announcement at 3 p.m. Friday at the WSRC Events Center.

This is from the Southern Illinoisan. Will there be a band and how much Kool Aid will be needed?

Yes there will be a band. They are getting ready now. There will be a local magician performing also. This is going to be big, big, big!
Shooters will remember this for a long time. There may be an announcement regarding an as yet unfinished State of Illinois government program to allow undocumented residents to purchase shotguns with State vouchers and compete for little or no fees. The currently unfinished HOF may be used as a temporary dormitory for the undocumented shooters at the 2016 Grand until the State Officials can get them drivers licenses, voter registration cards and monthly stipends to live on. All announcements will also be repeated in Spanish.

 

The ATA has (claimed to have ) a signed lease that was extended until 2026, this is a legal and binding agreement between the State of Illinois IDNR and the ATA ... The State of Illinois has defaulted on said lease agreement and agree to a tentative agreement which is not a legal and binding document and can be disposed of in one flush ... The ATA EC, ED, some of the BOD and KOOL Aid brigade find this to be something to find much delight in and are all excited in hearing the anticipated announcement Friday (01-15-16 @ 3 PM) of this "tentative" agreement ... This tentative agreement can be be gone the day before the big event is to take place and they can deny entry to the facility at their whim if they choose to do so ... Why will the State not honor the original Lease agreement if they are willing to issue or accept a tentative agreement covering the same basic issues but with additions and or exclusions added to it ..? The grand has cost the State of Illinois in excess of 23 millions dollars (added to the States deficit) over the course of 11 years in existence so the State obviously intends to stop the so called bleeding by amending the agreement in the form of a tentative agreement so the renter (ATA, and or Co Sponsor ) absorb any and all losses incurred and cause no financial harm to the State ... I applaud the State for their actions to protect the residents of Illinois tax dollars but have a lot of reservation doing business with the same organization (State of Illinois) who got me the first time (first time shame on you, second time shame on me ) and will not honor the initial agreement ...

The State of Illinois would be much better off to deal straight up with the Co Sponsor if the tentative agreement is hinged on their participation and issue a binding agreement and cut out the middle man (ATA) and go from there ... The Martins are people of Integrity and Honor, these are things the ATA EC, ED and some of the BOD have been lacking so I can see the State having reservations in dealing with the ATA and principles of same ... Hope all goes well ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

 

There's a persistent rumor floating that a couple ATA bigwigs are working to convince Bill Martin to help purchase the Sparta shooting facility from the state. The facilities designation as a park might present a small obstacle but there may be an effort for the ATA to own Sparta and conduct shoots throughout the year. They would need partnerships from the other shooting sports to keep the entire facility working as well as help from other outside agencies for big events such as large shows. Maybe we'll hear more in the future if there's any truth to the rumor. Perhaps Friday's huge event may shed new light.
