Years ago I was at the Sporting Clays Nationals in San Antonio talking to a White Flyer representative he told me he had just received a phone call from a fellow in Ohio who was interested in buying some glass ball targets. He had just bought an old farm and in the barn were two large wooden water barrels with glass balls in them and along with couple of glass ball throwers. He and his family had the best time shooting those glass targets and wanted to know where they could buy some more ? The White Flyer representative told this fellow that those glass balls could have been worth more than he paid for the farm. No response ! Sad but true. Joescout
Joe I'm not sure, but I believe that some of those same balls are on display in the Ohio Trapshooting Hall of Fame in the original barrel that they were shipped in. Betty was notified of this find in a old barn in southern Ohio, and she was able along with help from some others to bring those balls to our HOF where they are on display in the wooden barrel packed in straw enclosed in a clear case along with names of those that helped make this display possible. Hi Dave, don't know about that find. I just know what the White Flyer representative told my son and I while we were in their booth at San Antonio. There are some glass balls in the NSSA museum in San Antonio. As a kid growing up in Southern California I can remember skeet shooter Alex Kerr from the Kerr glass jar company, believe he had the largest collection of glass balls. Some glass balls can be worth 10k or more. I was in the NSSA museum looking at their collection of memorabilia glass balls and such and spotted a Mossberg Targo smooth bore Mo-Skeet gun of which I have one complete with attached throwing arm along with a case of Mo-Skeet targets and a Mo-Skeet trap which I found at a garage sale in Gardnerville, Nevada, where our club is located South of Carson City, Nevada.
