I like seeing all these calcuttas advertised on here. This reminds me of back in 1974 when I started trap shooting. I shot calcuttas at 7 or 8 clubs most Saturday's and Sunday's and a couple of days of the week, I could shoot every day but Monday if I wanted too. People do shoot for money it seems, too bad those running the ATA like AA points.

Brad, the calcutta's and meat shoots in this part of the country seem to be doing really well. It seems like that over the years that the shooters who worked during the week and (played) shot on the weekends or even just on Sunday wanted to be able to take something of monatary value home if they shot well and not just a pickle plate (as George Snellenberger described the trinkets that we so often win these days). It is often said that years ago we shot $100.00 guns to win $1000.00 prizes and now we shoot many $1000.00 dollar guns to win trinkets. Many of the working class shooters just don't feel that there is enough chance to get a decent pay off if they shoot very well to justify the cost to attend the big shoots such the State Shoots and the Grands. Just my opinion.

Calcuttas are the lifeblood of trap shooting in the tri state area of southern Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.

All the clubs in this area overflow with shooters when hosting a calcutta.

Nobody gives a damn about points or yard sale trophies at ATA shoots.

This web page posting Calcuttas makes it so much better than back 50 years ago when I started shooting. The way I found out about clubs holding shoots was from word of mouth when I went to a Calcutta and someone would be talking about another shoot. That was how we did it then, today Americantrapshooter makes it way eaiser than then. So some things are better today than then, but not many.
