With our current leadership and its direction we can expect 5% fewer shooters at the GAH. While the SCTP will have a 15% gain in shooters at the Cardinal Center's SCTP National Championship. Which Executive Director should be fired?

How are the ATA Delegates performing compared to leadership at the SCTP?

Demographics are different so its not a direct comparison. GAH consists of us older shooters that are aging out of the sport. SCTP has youth on their side.

I think that is the OP's point. Why can't the ATA attract anything but overhandicapped old farts?

paBOB, COULD IT BE BECAUSE THE OLD GUYS REMEMBER WHAT IT USED TO BE, AND THE YOUNG SHOOTERS DO NOT LIKE WHAT THEY SEE IN THE ata.

hate to tell ya guys and gales......young people hang with young people....old people hang with old people.

its like young people wanting to dance at an arthor murry dance competition.

and I for sure aint gonna wiggle my butt and pull my pants down to my hair line to blend in with young people.

point is.....old men try to act young, which is a turn off to young people.
it should be the other way around.

being mentors to a sport is a different story.
but once its learned and retained, young folks will migrate to their own kind loooong before theyd come to hang out with one foot in the graver's.

thus my theory as to why there is a vast difference in attendances.
thus why I said before, the older parents should be involved.....IN SHOOTING, not just being the taxi to an event. if parents(old guys) learned to like it...theyd migrate to the ata's old crowd, building the organization. and, once kids saw that mom and dad like the ata....theyd follow.

its my opinion and im sticking to it.
now excuse me, I must prepare to be part of the solution, and train a 70 year old couple this weekend.

It's easy to shoot when mom and dad are paying for everything..

So if mom and dad are paying now, why aren't they taking kids to Sparta?

Not SCTP or high school affiliated. Kids do not even know about the ATA. and there High school shooting schedule does not leave them time for it. this is a general characterization as clearly there are some sub junior and junior shooters who participate.

The SCTP pays dues to the ATA.
