Since the ponds/lakes are owned by "Big Brother (rumor has it) does that mandate the use of steel shot? If so, good bye 27...Hello 35 yd.
Review of 12 step programs: The following are the original twelve steps as published by KAD Anonymous. We admitted we were powerless over the ATA Kool Ade—that our lives had become unmanageable. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. Continued to take personal inventory, and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to ATA KAD aholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
There is GREAT news that they are ONLY closing the "shooting areas" in Sparta. The HOF will open as Leo's Lures and there will be clinics for left eye dominate right hand casting. The 'business' owner on the grounds will convert from reclaimed lead shot, to reclaimed boat anchors, recycled fishing line, and recovered Leo Lures. The ATA is going to 'invest' in the 'new direction' and 'fund' the former HOF conversion. There is also a rumor that the ATA is working on reducing "angling fishing techniques", and reducing water temperature to slow the fish down.
PS ... in anticipating something like this I have Zebco reel mounts available for most Trap-guns, including K and P gun ribs with eyelets threaded in every bead size. And as a bonus you can get your ATA membership number on every mount.
have a very good lure that most country folks are familiar with. It's called DY-NO-MITE. can I have an exclusive on selling it at the site? I can offer a kick back to those in charge of vendor row. Roger C.
I found this just this morning from Sept 15,2015 ... : Its an up date of sorts, I guess ... SPARTA, IL (KFVS) - One of the largest shooting events in the world could leave Sparta, Illinois if the state shutters the venue due to the Illinois budget deadlock. The 1,600 acres World Shooting Complex will close October 1 because the state hasn't appropriated funds to it. That is striking fears with leaders of the Amateur Trapshooting Association and organizers of the Grand American Trapshooting Tournament, the largest event of its' kind in the world. The Grand American draws more than 16,000 people to Sparta including more than 4,600 competitors each year. Executive Director of the ATA Lynn Gipson said the Grand American has to happen whether it's in Sparta or somewhere else. He said if the ATA leaves, it likely will not return to Sparta. “In the next few months if nothing’s resolved, if the budgets still out there – We’re going to have to start looking at other locations," Gispon said. "We don’t want to do that, we want to stay here [in Sparta] but we have to have a Grand American somewhere. We owe it to our membership.” The Grand American has been held every year for the past 115 years. The competition moved from Vendalia, Ohio to Sparta in 2001. “It’s a big deal for this area. It’s a big deal for us to," Gipson said. The $50 million facility has drawn criticism that it would not pay for itself. Gipson said the complex has an operating budget of $2.4 million per year and directly draws in half that but Gipson said the complex draws brings $22 million to the region each year which in turn generates tax revenue to the state. The Grand American brings in an estimated $12 million per year alone. Gispon said if the ATA leaves Sparta, it will be hard to justify keeping the complex open. The ATA employs a staff of 15 people annually. During the tournament, 300 part time workers are hired locally. “It’s kind of coming down to the wire but we’re hoping," Gipson said. Gipson said he believes that the complex could bring in an additional $8 million to $10 million per year if new management takes over. “This thing pays for itself," Gipson said. Gipson suggested promoting both shooting and non shooting events including promotion of camping and tourism. He said the complex could host large concerts, RV rallies and charity events such as races. It appears no body is ready to commit to anything for sure other than Lynn (The Talking Head) Gipson giving his up dated report on how much the facility generates in the local and regional area ... I would sure hope he is aware that the State can tell him exactly how much they have not generated compare to his over inflated numbers ... The State is not releasing any funds for paying off the Illinois Lottery winners either so if the Political Posturing don't quite damn soon the 2016 grand will of come and gone ... Lynn Gipson seems to think they have a few months to worry about that yet ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
From the land of the lost .... "SPRINGFIELD — A pause in state layoffs won’t stop the planned closures of the state’s museum system nor its shooting facilities near Sparta, Gov. Bruce Rauner’s administration has announced. The state museum in Springfield, four related facilities around the state and the World Shooting and Recreational Complex at Sparta in Southern Illinois are under the control of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, which reports to the governor. "The department on Friday said the the museum system and the shooting facilities at Sparta will close on Wednesday as previously announced. Earlier in the week, Rauner’s office had announced it would indefinitely suspend plans for layoffs of unionized state employees, including 107 in the Department of Natural Resources, while those layoffs are being disputed in court. “While employees will return to work, the facilities will remain closed to the public during the suspension,” the IDNR announced in a news release posted on one of its Web pages. The closure at Sparta is limited to the shooting areas. “Closure at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex is limited to shooting sports events,” the DNR statement said. “The main event center, restaurant, Amateur Trapshooting Association Hall of Fame and access to boat ramps for fishing will remain open. ”The governor’s office and DNR has cited the lack of a balanced budget. Critics question the immediate necessity for the closures given that employees will be reporting to work for now. The Republican governor and legislative Democrats have been unable to come to an agreement for a budget for fiscal year 2016, which began July 1. Few signs of progress have emerged, and both the House and Senate have completed their scheduled sessions for September." State museums, Sparta shooting fields will close despite pause in layoffs – Illinois News Network
Lynn may want to get to a KADA meeting himself soon. The first step is the biggest. Lynn's life must be a wreck...just guessing. Repeating this so often he may be starting to believe it. I have seen a few defend Gipson but at what time do your words become your own? Imagine being so addicted to the stuff you think a gun hate state will come to your rescue. With the above news the Tuesday KADA meeting will be packed.
Personally, I was hoping that the news from Lynn( the Talking Head ) Gipson was scripted so he would not be held accountable for saying it over and over until they think someone believes it ... If it was scripted and he just says it as part of his job his credit ability would be tarnished but not dented beyond repair ... The Video (attached above) shows him saying it like he don't want to have to say it again, but he does as he peers right into the camera ... If they would take the time and bother to look at the State of Illinois web site they can see exactly how far off they are in the anticipated generated income to the local area and region from the WSRC and the grand American being hosted there ... IDNR has a web site, Governor Rauner has a web site, the Illinois State Lottery has a web site, the WSRC has a web site, so you can read a lot and find out very little if your so inclined ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
Well we'll just wait and see who comes up with the money to purchase this place for pennies on the dollar from the State. Could there be some back room negotiations going on ??? This could get interesting in the long run. We do have some excellent business men in our midst.
"excellent business men" would not take it with a 1099. I can find much more fun ways to waste a couple of million bucks a year.
If the ATA cannot draw a crowd for a shoot such as the grand American what makes them think RV Rally's, Races etc will ..? I am not sure but I don't think the State can even unload the place as it is right now, if there are lien against it and or bonds that were taken to build it ... That's beyond my scope but if anyone knows anything for sure please post it so we can try to figure out whats happening ... We do know the State of Illinois and the HOF are in trouble but beyond that its all a guess ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
Received word within the last hour that the Gov's people have given the ATA assurance that things will be worked out very soon and while the facility may not open for shooting, that will only be temporary. This comes from a friend that heard it directly from another friend who also has people. We need people so we can be in the know. If you guys would be positive regarding the WSC we could have people also. Remember they have a plan!
Well, I was talking to a guy who's uncle knows a girl who used to date this kid from down the block who was related to the girl who worked in the office of the guy who ran the local news paper and none of them seem to know anything for sure ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
Dan, We down home folks also used old crank telephones as cat fish bait. They would crawl in the boat. Roger C.
Hostage Escaped! Yes....but the hostage that escaped was not an ATA event. The SCTP Nationals are not registered. It is not surprising the SCTP Nationals said good-bye. Many in the know on this site have stated trapshooting is not about the ATA or any other org. The narrow minded disdainful comments about PITA and other non-ATA events are well noted. The Cardinal Center made it clear on this site that they are about throwing targets for the trapshooting crowd.
Will the closing of the shooting area put the $16500 in jeopardy? Seems it should but if the fishing ponds are still open perhaps $3.oo for a willow pole and some string would suffice............... Larry
Update! A brand new plan is currently in the discussion stage but set to be unveiled very soon. I would have my people check it out but I don't have people yet. Perhaps Roger or WPT could have their people look into things. You guys do have people, I hope.
Inside the City of Sparta no one cares. One more huge shoot for the Cardinal Center. They care. The kids will enjoy the area. Good for everyone. Even the IDNR is happy.
Tonight is the first scheduled KaDA meeting. We will try to get information about that event tomorrow night. One day at a time. Good luck to all at the meeting.
Slept in my car last night dreaming about what happened at the KaDA (Kool Aid Drinkers Anonymous) meeting last night. Hello my name is Matt. Hi Matt...... I drank the ade and poured it myself. I was blinded by the juice. It consumed my life. Facts were lies and truths fiction. And then the fog cleared. I found myself going to the other site. The americantrapshooter site was right all along. I knew I had to make a change. Dysinger, Family Guy, Flyer, WPT , Roger and the rest of the group had tried to help. They formed their own site and I was alone. Alone with people with the same problem. Those that would not drink I heckled. Maybe I hated what they had. Or I was drinking what they hated. I know I am not alone now. Next week I will bring a few others to the meeting. Some of the other stooges.
If the clamoring from the Kool Aid members is any indication last night's meeting should have been huge. I remember hearing about all the state police that were at the Grand the first year it was held in Sparta (I think the ATA promised 100,000 attendees) they may want to call up some of those troopers for the meetings. That's if anyone still cares. Brad
Brad With the high level of anxieties and reports of Kool Aid overdosing you can bet the KAD Anon meeting was well protected. I am sure the crowd was hard to control. More characters like the above are expected at tomorrows meeting.
The Holiday Inn could very well be in jeopardy with the closing of the WSRC ... I checked their web site and nothing as of yet, but how far behind can they possibly be ..? WPT ... (YAC) ...
Now 911 Funding is on Hold in Illinois! http://thesouthern.com/news/local/b...cle_7968900e-597d-521f-b833-9913bf99c45e.html What happens if there is a break-in at the HOF? How long would it take to steal artifacts from the museum? I can imagine locals waiting to get their hands on an original graph or a bust of Dysinger.
