my old range on my old military base just jacked prices to a point where I question how a typical military person can afford to shoot on it.
management told me 99% of the clients are retired or civilians using the facility, so they are targeting them.
what use to be 4.00 a game is now....
    daily range fee 10.00.
    12.00 per game.
ranges must be reserved with (t-times)
you are called to the field like at the world shoot for shootoffs. if you miss your t-time, you are not refunded.

granted, its a military type a environment, but who would want to be subjected to that???

so, would you pay 22.00 for your first game of skeet?
    and 12.00 every other game?

and people wonder why the sport is dying.

Very well said, that is strict policy and high price up there most especially for vets and retirees. At least there should be some kind of discount for them.

they probably assume the deal for the troops is .....its still open, in light of so many base s&t ranges that were closed by lefty commanders afraid to take on the epa or local govt. afterall, it would ruin their careers, ya know.

Id be looking for another club. They might as well shut it down now than later.

That's a disgrace. David is right, just shut it down and be done with it.

The only place I've seen shameless gouging like that is in Florida. You know -- because clay targets are so heavy that hauling them to Florida adds $6 per 25 targets.

florida ranges are target marketing all that snowbird cash. always did, always will. now its happening out in the desert locations too. ranges aren't ranges anymore. they are tourist attractions where the well to do spend their pocket cash.

My Florida club is $6 per round, $5 on the base. I'd hardly call that gouging.

its encouraging to hear that JAX is still open to MILPERS.
many bases caved to epa pressure and shut down.
and even more encouraging is the pricesare keptlow too.
NAS oceana isn't helping the troops with their prices.

Greed ruins everything, People increase their prices because other are doing it. they pay no concern about they loyal customers and how it affects their pockets.

  24. airfield just went to $4.25 and they are planning a 5 stand range now

  25. bobski

do they really have enough interest?
what ive learned in the past is....when a club goes to 5 stand, it means the skeet/trap crowd is bored.

  26. they dont have a large active skeet crowd anyway. last monday we had 7 people show up for the "weekly monday morning shooters " we send a email to see who is going to be there. we are thinking about some fun shoots in the fall. Remember we have 4H camps there during the summer and they plan on using the 5 stand to teach different hunting targets

sad. they spent all that money to build 2 ranges and never finished the second one before they realized one was all they needed.
seems to me they ought to use that 2nd field for skeet. maybe it doesnt flood as bad as field 1.
