TRAP is NEVER stamped on the barrel ..... may be stamped on the FE in VERY limited numbers of M 12's ----- It's a TRAP gun. It does NOT have a Duck Bill receiver ramp ..... so not a 2 or 3 pin.
Charles, Dave Riffle's book shows several photos with the word Trap stamped either on the barrel or on the underside of the magazine next to the SN.
There is an example of "trap" stamping in the pictures if the model 12 posted f/s by c13 back on the second page. On the mag above the sn. - stay safe
OK boys, just so we don't go down the rabbit hole. The "barrel" is the part that the shell goes into when it is chambered. The magazine tube is the part that the shell sits in while waiting to go into the barrel. I'm no expert but I don't think the word Trap was ever stamped on the "barrel". On the barrel "assembly", yes, on the receiver, yes, but on the barrel? I don't think so. And BTW, I also think they stopped stamping TRAP on them in the 50's. I've seen Pigeon Grade Trap guns without the word Trap stamped on them. Google, "Pictures of Winchester Model 12 with the word Trap stamped on it".
M 12's I have ------- Pix attached ------ I have one WITH the word TRAP ...... "The Holy Grail" ??? Got another with wiggley lines on the barrel "assembly" What's that called?
Well charles, first let me say the LAST THING YOU WANT TO DO IS GET SARCASTIC WITH ME. If you would have explained to people where the stampings were instead of trying to look like an “expert” none of the other posts would have been put up. BTW, WTF part is the “FE” ? If you mean Forearm Extension, what if the wood isn't there? I posted that I had seen Pigeon Grades without the word Trap on them and should have added that I have seen dozens of FACTORY Trap guns WITHOUT the word Trap on them. And lastly, you don’t have the Holy Grail. But you already knew that and were just trying to be sarcastic again right? Oh, one more thing, lay off the Bold and oversized fonts. Actually SOLD it to Dean in Indiana ..... and Dean called it the " Holy Grail" of Model 12's over $5300 was price and used another site of coarse. Full size picture for the previous non belivere(s) & responder(s)
OK, Charles, here’s the deal. You don’t have to use the bold type to make your posts “stand out”. I told you nicely once. I’m glad the person that bought the one with the pigeon on it, on another site, feels it’s the holy grail. Everyone has their own opinion. Since the one you listed in the original post IS NOT the one in the last picture I will remove the SOLD from the title for that gun. And lastly, I hope, some people might have missed the snide remark that you “ used another site of course”, but I didn’t. If you feel that your items won’t sell here then it is probably in your best interest to not list them here. Flyersarebest Moderator
There was only one Gun for sale on this thread. It is the one in the first set of pictures. It is still for sale. The other one, the pigeon grade, was just to show us the owner had one. Flyersarebest Moderator
Guess ppl dont remember some of the Pigeon grades have been faked.. it was a issue years ago .. just saying
