The ATA and city of Sparta just can't get off of the exagerated numbers and thats whats going to cost them in the end ... The State of Illinois, you can bet knows and see's what the economic impact is and you can bet its been monitored since the facility opened ... I doubt they only use the numbers from the city of Sparta proper with them knowing all to well there is nothing in the immediate area to generate the numbers they are looking for, they would probably use the region and or county ... Lynn Gipson stated like he knows that it generates $22 million dollars, how is anybodys guess ... It has to generate a lot of money to cover the cost of operation and maintainace for the the State of Illinois to not look at it in a negative light ... They cut back the number of daily visitors to 15,000 so thats getting closer to reality ... The State can look at the numbers generated at the site itself ($3.00 per event) and get an overall idea of what the region should expect ... If you can't make it work on paper, it will never work in reality ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
The scheduled events for the WSRC according to the States list of events ( scheduled) and number of days is 112 days for the year ... Thus leaving 253 days of being dormant or lack of activity that would pay the operation and maintainance cost ... If these figures are right, that means each event would have to generate $26,785.77 each day it is being used ($8,200 per day x 365 = $2,993.000 annually) just for the WSRC to break even on an annual basis ... Realistically (sp ?) can anyone (someone) show how that can happen ..? I got to be missing something here, or Lynn (The talking head) Gipson is ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
When will the ATA finally seek a contingency plan? Sparta is closed. The ATA lost. All their talk about the Governor merely posturing was wrong. It's closed. It may never reopen. It may not reopen under favorable terms. It may not reopen in satisfactory condition. The ATA foolishly chose a facility that could be, and was, yanked right out from under them. Everything the Sparta critics said was right, and everything the Sparta advocates said was wrong. Is the ATA going to ride Sparta all the way down? When will they finally announce a contingency site? The ATA's directors and officers owe a fiduciary duty to the organization. The ATA owes its members a facility that can be counted on as being there so the members can make travel plans. That duty is not satisfied by holding their breath, folding their arms and pouting until Sparta reopens. This won't get the ATA a site for 2016.
Posted: Sep 01, 2015 6:10 PM CDTUpdated: Sep 01, 2015 6:34 PM CDT By KMOV.com Staff SPARTA - Sparta residents are upset that the World Shooting Complex in Sparta will be closing amid the budget standoff in Springfield. All I see is that it will be closing, Where does it say it's closed? Why are you so happy and proud a shooting venue is in trouble? If you don't like it don't shoot it, read about it or even worry about it. Your actions sure do show a lack of maturity and even common sense.
You should read the headline: "Metro East park that hosts trap shooting event closes amid budget standoff" They teach you about verb tenses? That's all you have? You're talking about me in such dire times for your side? You're going to miss the boat with that attitude, Son. You should be saying that you have hard facts and figures proving that the WSRC has net operating revenue of x, and results in local sales tax increase of y. This ball game ain't with me, Son. The Illinois Governor and General Assembly are the ones who need to see your hard proof that the WSRC makes sense for the State.
Actually, if you hit the play button, it says it's "suspended" But of course with your style of arguments, everyone interviewed or gave their observations and opinions are wrong, you have all the answers. It would be interesting to see what the numbers are for the Pa and Oh state shoots economic impact, then use a multiplier to make up the difference in attendance.
And that comment is from the same story, Which is it? Oh by the way, there is still league shooting and a shoot the 18th thru the 20th of Sept. Didn't they teach you to get the WHOLE story before repeating rumors!! Never said anything about revenue or local tax increases. Of course I realize you can't remember any conversation from one sentence to the next but that still doesn't excuse your childish behavior, boy.
The 112 days that I am refering to are on the WSRC's schedule for 2015, not sure how that will work or if it will after the announced closure of the facility ... Politics as usual in the State of Illinois ... The closure does not mean it will remain closed nor does it mean it will reopen, its all based on the Budget and funding ... The amended budget is the problem, it allows for no gray area, its black or white, nothing in between ... They say they have no place to shift the funding from but many places to put it ... The Illinois State Lottery is still locked down until a budget agreement has been reached ... Talk about a can of worms, damn ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
No, it wouldn't. That's actually a very silly comparison to try to make. Neither Cardinal nor Elysburg come hat in hand to the state seeking a free house to play in. We'll see, I guess. They could always relocate that shoot to Rend Lake.
What happened to the written notice they were supposed to give, and a certain amount of time before they closed ??? Perhaps I got my story mixed up.
