I am thinking about searching for components and dusting off the reloader.

Component prices will scare you probably how bad will depend on how long it’s been since your last purchase.
That said I save money on 12s and save real big bucks on my 28 guage

cheap steel base, light loads, are cheaper to buy than what I can reload --Figuring I have to travel in three directions to get what I need. Hunting loads and 27yard loads are still cheaper to load and I know what I have. "Searching" is the key word in your Question.

    I’m reloading 12ga 1 1/8oz for about $5.80/box, way less than cheapies.
UPS or FedEx brings right to my door, no driving needed. Savings on 28 & 410 are huge. Everything needed to reload is available online, just gotta check 6-7 sites.

That was great when you could buy 20# of pounds of powder with one HazMat fee and shipping. Last online I got, they only had 4 pounds, and hazmat was a killer. I Am sure it is getting better with the powder selection I see showing up at the stores.

Your ability to source components at the best prices will determine whether or not it's cheaper for you. I save money on every shell I load.

Search away but be careful about who you do business with. In today's world it's scammers heaven out there. Rule of thumb is don't do business with them if they don't accept credit cards.

In my area, Western New York, the most best deal on 12 gage shells are the Walmart Federal 4 packs. Before tax $34.42, they are tough to find, some stores limit to a purchase of two boxes and they are 3 dram. I pick them up when I can to stretch my reloading a little further. Walmart lately has had AA for $12.27 and in the last month I have seen STS for $12.75.
I did a poor job recording what I paid for my reloading supplies as I took what I could get. It would be difficult to calculate a price.
The benefits of reloading, for me, is the brass bottom hull, ability to load 1 or 11/8, shot choice and the best benefit is the ability to load a soft load for my wife to shoot.

Probably not much cheaper BUT you can reload a much better shell with quality components for same money they call them cheap shells for a reason !!!!!!!!!!!!

You never know when to just keep quiet do you? You would think that after all the times you stepped in it you would learn.

    Does this sound familiar?

"I'll say this once. If anyone actually purchased Noble Sport primers for $399 including shipping please show us the invoice and proof the product was delivered. I'll gladly eat crow and apologize profusely."

And then a member posted the pictures and price of $399.00

Still waiting for that apology to that member. And you should try a little hot sauce on that crow. It will compliment that beer you are always talking about.

You can do a google search for a reloading cost calculator for shot shells featured on another shooting site to determine your cost to reload.

if you have this or a similar manual by lyman, they have tear out pages that you can use to calculate costs.

Nope Bobski, this is strictly a reloading issue and none of us will be happy. I'll give you a hint to stock up on shells if you can find some as poop runs downhill. The war in the Ukraine probably has plenty to do with the tremendous price increase we're about to see since the Ukrainians claim they're running out of ammo.
Now, if a seller makes a mistake on pricing and accidently charges half the going rate on a product and someone makes out on the deal do we call that person a crook or just lucky? I sell plenty of components on tick (that's an old one) and people often come up to me and hand me cash for something they purchased weeks before that I forgot about. That's called honesty.

Bobski, I was sworn to secrecy by a major retailer who didn't want a run on current inventory when the news comes out. He's already limiting purchases starting today to make sure his regular customers get enough. I was told to scour the countryside for existing inventory so I could take care of my regulars too. He's not a BS artist.

the gun industry always creates a pinch point.
everything is going just fine, then they squeeze one area that shuts it all down.
its like a car maker selling cars, without engines.
....and they get away with it.
i preached this on all the other sites and all over creation.
time for shooters to go fishing and send them a message.

No one needs do anything but when a keg of powder goes from $230 to $300 or more (if you can find any) the crying will start even louder. Of course, when major components for ammo manufacturing go up does anyone believe prices will stay the same. I suggested we run a sale on Noble Sport primers currently priced at $275/5,000 and $499 for 10,000 to reduce inventory. My advice, load up on whatever you can afford to purchase-now!

i agree to disagree. all youre doing is sending a message to them that you are willing to pay their price point. you have to break the chain of events that leap frogs over and over....up and up.
the ultimate message to corporations that they are going the wrong way is to let them fail, fold, and be rebuilt by someone else willing to give customers what they (demand.)
afterall, isnt that what business is? supply goods to fill a demand?
why do you think china is doing so well in usa? they are undercutting EVERYONE.
how do you think europe has destroyed what once was the gun/ammo meca of the universe?
they undercut us...then slowly raised it and made us beg for it.
they got us hooked on them.
and now, we have no way to turn.
stupid as we are, we keep taking it and whine about it.
because when youre hooked on something, habits are hard to break.
addiction is what it is and americans are addicted to their shooting. always were and always will be.
the industry knows it. and we now pay dearly to play. like a hooker feeds a junkie.

and with that i will end my discussion. thank you for your time.

I suppose the bigger message (like it or not) is the Ukrainians.are claiming they must limit ammo usage because of shortages. They also claim some of the foreign ammo they are receiving is defective. We have local factories running 24/7 making 155 mm shells and falling behind on demand. Guess what goes in those artillery shells? I'm sure most everyone knows government contracts are very lucrative for manufacturers and those orders take priority. I remember inspecting hundreds of 175 mm barrels and our shop made a ton of money in the 60's. The bottom line is if you voted for this administration and their getting us into this war your complaints are not valid. This situation continuing for another year or two is being predicted. See much Alliant powder or Sierra bullets lately--why not?

Nope, but nitroglycerine is. Then there's a worldwide shortage of nitro. Do you actually think the ammunition companies care if few shotgun shell reloaders get mad. The profit is in metallic cartridges and volume.

Great, tell us the next time the company loses money on primers. The last guy who ran that sale joined Tucker Carlson.

Do you ever STOP TO THINK? Really, I mean, EVER?

Just once in your life of owning a tiny little "store" did it ever dawn on you that just maybe a place the size of Kentucky Gun Company can afford to sell them because they can buy literally millions of primers? Just because you can't afford to do that doesn't mean someone else can't. Little fish in not just a big pond, but in an OCEAN.

Is that Carlson analogy supposed to mean that the KGC is going to go out of business? Where do you dream up this stuff? Sitting on that bar stool you always talk about? I could say that your disjointed ramblings, where you conveniently forget things and act like you didn't see them, sounds just like biden. Come to think of it, you DO sound like him.

Remember what I told you. I can loan you the money with a low interest rate when they run the sale.

"I'll say this once. If anyone actually purchased Noble Sport primers for $399 including shipping please show us the invoice and proof the product was delivered. I'll gladly eat crow and apologize profusely."

OK, if this will make you happy I will apologize to anyone who took advantage of a mistake by a company on pricing and got a great deal as a result. I too wish I could pay $425 for 10,000 primers and sell them for $399 including a typical $25 Hazmat upcharge with a minimum of $25 freight and still make a profit. Next time I stop in at my dealer/distributor I may take a photo of a few hundred sleeves of Noble Sport and Cheddite primers just to prove they exist and that I know something about the wholesale price of a product. There are some of us who are in tune with today's market while others know nothing.

The goal of a business is survival ! Most companies who do not survive, did not embrace and implement the changes in their processes that were required to stay competitive while producing a high quality product, on time, and at a fair price.

  40. Flyersarebest

It has nothing to do with "making ME happy". It has everything to do with the fact that you took a swipe at a member that was trying to help other members by telling them there was a sale on those primers. You took another swipe at him in your other post by calling him "super star". And BTW, that sale wasn't a mistake. They have enough money, buying power, and customers to run it again. Some small time "stores" that run on a shoestring don't have that.

Your halfazz "apology" SUCKS. But it really doesn't surprise me. You have never once admitted you were wrong on anything. without being told to do so. And even then your ego won't let you do it in a manly way, it's always some backhanded reply.

You're ARE lucky in one respect. You're lucky I'm not the owner of the site.

  41. oleolliedawg

    oleolliedawg Mega Poster Founding Member

The "sale" lasted one day. When the mistake was found they instantly raised the price substantially. I'll wait a long time until they match that price ($399 delivered for 10.000) again. Prove me wrong!

  42. Flyersarebest

Flyersarebest Moderator Founding Member Forum Leader

The sale was for longer than one day. There was NO mistake. If you knew how to use that computer for something other than a place to put your beer bottle you would have seen the dates from when the sale started and ended.

I told you I talked to the owner, the sale price ended one day too soon, and he said, "I WILL HONOR THE SALE PRICE, HOW MANY WOULD YOU LIKE."

I told you to call them so you could get your 500,000 (which you were NEVER going to buy anyway) and you conveniently forgot that I posted it. If you are going to post something, be able to back it up.

When they run another sale, I expect another lameazz apology.

As far as that "prove me wrong" statement? I don't have to prove you wrong; you do that almost every time you post anything.

Here's a little advice. Stop digging the hole.

Any outfit that pays $435 for a product, sells it for $399 including $50 shipping and hazmat fees while losing at least $85 on the sale needs to have it's intelligence examined. Congrats to all those who took advantage of their stupidity!

KYGUNCO, 77 YEARS in business, (started locally 1/1/1946). Now operating 2 HUGE locations.

What a bunch of dummies. They should have stayed a little one-man operation. That way they could badmouth a MULTI MILLION DOLLAR company and tell people they know more than the HUGE MULTI MILLION COMPANY.

And the hole gets deeper. LOL

companies that sell at a loss are usually cutting their losses. its why many companies continue to manufacture anyway, knowing they will shout down soon.
maybe they know people will stop buying all together, making a losing sale a better option than nothing at all?

Reloading currently, has never been less costly. Due to the greedy industry practices, component availability is near extinction. If you can't find components you can't reload. See how cheap that endeavor has become!
