Cong. to Gene Hapney (Hap) for posting a 99 today in Handicaps at the Grand. Dam good for a shooter with all them aches and pains. Maybe there is hope for the rest of us... Way to go Hap. HAPNEY GENE 99 25.0 Sr. Vet Lew D. Boyko in muggy Minnesota
I'm re posting the one I put up a while ago. Senior Vet Definition: Someone that has devoted COUNTLESS hours to a game they love. Spent WAY too much money on a sport that really can't pay it all back. AND DOESN'T CARE. Went out of their way to promote the game they love to new members. Has seen it, heard, and been involved in it ALL. Might not compete at the same level as they used to, BUT DOESN'T CARE because just being able to do it is enough. Has to compete with aches and pains the younger competitors don't feel. And, Someone, that maybe just once in a while, feels like they did years before and ends up at the top of the heap. Or in this case, top of the HAP. Congrats Again!
Fantastic shooting Hap! Funny how scores like that make all those little aches and pains disappear for awhile. Keep it going like that all week! Don
I knew it Hap pulls this crap quite often. He rubs his neck, tweaks his shoulder, then moves his back a little and declares that he just doesn't think he'll be able finish the whole hundred today. Usually that's right after he left the cashier window with his ticket showing the options he just played. The old fox still has a lot of ability left I'm just glad I wasn't donating this time.
For those of you who thought Hap might come on here and thank everyone, it's a little early. I can guarantee everyone he's sitting somewhere looking through the event program and planning. I'm pretty sure he's going to strike again and get a little more "traveling money.
Tough to type all those "thank you" notes when your poor tired old body just aches with every movement. Every movement except the ones that are needed to crush cap targets that is. Flyersarebest
Hap is a man among men, he will do just fine and has proved many times over what he is capable of ... I hope he wins it all and still talks to his friends after he does ... Go get them Buddy, you the man ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
Did we ever get an accurate accounting of just how much "traveling money" Hap took home? The old fox gets real quiet after he makes a strike. Unfortunately, come November he'll be looking to make a little investment in Tucson.
Luck was, none of my neighbors were harvesting doves that would fall on my field!! Vertigo has had me in it's grip for about 7 weeks! Meds and PT cleared it up for a week and a half making me think it was over! I only shot one day during that time in the prelims, went fishing on lake Carlyle on Sat. and the Vertigo slammed me again Sunday morning! The heat and humidity caused the return ( I think?) and ruined my chances in the C of C event as well as my Grand! Vertigo also has an effect on eyesight! Couldn't make the correct bird/bead relationship but the vision did improve daily, not the staggering like a drunk though! Come the fall classic Autumn Grand, I'm looking forward to adding to my trapshooting investment portfolio for adding wealth in big ways! My coach and trap advisor always told me how to become a millionaire shooting trap, he said, "start with 2"? I heard we're gonna have a parking lot Calcutta come November too? WS, you gonna play/pay? Bring plenty of cash plz, babies need sum new shoes! Harem Crampbull
Hap, sorry to hear about the vertigo problem. You know that stuff can be real hard to get rid of. Just about the time you think it's gone it comes right back. The only sure way to get a handle on it would be to go fishing for say three, four months until you're sure it's over. It would mean not being about to shoot at The Autumn Grand but as a good friend I'll have a chair for you and a couple of beers. I'd be cheaper than you stealing my option investments.
Bobby, thanks a bunch for your concerns and great offers of beers an a seat at the Autumn fall classic shoot! Just so everyone knows, is the beer that same stale case of rot gut ya been tryin to pawn off on us for 2 or 3 years now? Gutbuster isn't a very tasteful name for a quality brew BTW? That has to be a great savin for ya too I'd think? Bout that cheer offer, is that the one that collaspes just afore you git all your weight in it? Just in case I can shoot once in a while, bring some extra cash along, might give ya a tip er two on yer Calcutta hot shot investments! Harem Crampbull
Hap you can warm up for Tucson at the Texas Zone II shoot starting 30 Oct- 1 Nov. and I can guarantee you some good beer after you have finished shooting. Might even break out some Bourbon or Whiskey from my collection if the need should arise.
Whoa, LadyT - Stop, think for a minute. Obviously everyone is allowed to make their own decisions but giving Hap free access to the "Devils Brew" means you have to accept responsibility. Haps been shooting for years and knows shooters throughout the U.S. so be prepared. Don't get him too wound up as we're trying to figure out a way to get the best of him in November.
Well we have some pretty good shooters here who can give him more than he would want and that may be just what you need. Demoralize Hap before he even gets to Tucson.
LadyT, I'd consider it an honor to share a post on your squad! Heck, I'd even carry some shells for you too! I'm not at all like that mean ol western shooter tries to paint me atall!! Nothing like a good cold beer after wurkin up a thirst shootin! 1st of Nov. is just prior to my 39th BD and good time for great bourbon too! I sure like the way you think gurl! Boy am I ever wound up thinkin bout such a great warm-up endeavor! Stay tuned' I'm kinda partial to a tad of the Devils Elixer! HAP
LadyT, actually whatever you can do will certainly help. It's hard enough to have Hap take our money but that smile of his while he's doing it can get to you. You know he has Tom Strunk as backup so sometimes things just aren't fair but we'll take whatever help you can offer.
LadyT, for celebration purposes after the target marauding is all over with, a couple "Red Stripe" Jamaican brewskies fits the bill just dandy for me! You certainly aren't the first lady this rhinestone cowboy from the LA area has attempted to recruit for causing ill will toward others when playin our great game. Heck, he even has a mutual friends wife to always give me candy hoping I'll come down with a sugar high! This, knowin I like sweet thangs? News flash Rhinestone, Tom has his eyes all fixed and in a very few days will began his preparations for his kickazzology on a trap field once again! A double edged sword so to speak for sure as you already have first hand experiences with a huge dose of sum O dat! He's even trainin his new bride in those same methods also! Regardless, all my best to all you hedge fund manipulator's! Harem Crampbull
