Word on the streets is a contingent from MS will be there again proposing a ten shooter 1/2 yd. punch for handicap events. That 15 shooter rule didn't work out too well this year. Go MS!

I believe A Life Member Should be allowed to Speak at the Meeting to ALL DELEGATES not just his STATE DELEGATE and be heard by the Board of Directors, President and Secretary and Treasurer.

It's time for another quick review of History:

In 1955, by majority vote, State and Provincial Delegates voted to strip Life Members of the only authority they paid for and ever had by amending " the Charter to allow disposition, encumbrance or lease of ATA property by either the Directors or the Executive Committee with the consent of the majority of the Directors, as opposed to the previous rule which would require approval of approximately 7,500 individual members."

Life members are not recognized to have any right to speak during the annual meeting of the Board of Directors. However, on occasion, the Executive Committee does give approval for individual members to make statements at this meeting.

Regarding tonight's BOD meeting: I personally don't expect anything out of the norm.

I believe our Directors will vote in the affirmative on the By-Laws amendment because they already approved the Presidential Honorarium valued at $16,500 a few years ago.

What should be disturbing to the membership is that Delegates took this step, even after it was made clear to them that it was in violation of the By-Laws. I thought it every members duty to live by and enforce our By-Laws. I don't support changing By-Laws to permit an existing practice. By-Laws should amended first, to allow officials to conduct a practice in conformity.

So, if Delegates saw no harm in violating our By-Laws which strictly prohibited compensation for officers and directors, and also did not see the potential issue it posed relating to our association's 501(c)(3) not for profit status, and have all been on board each year since by permitting every ATA President to purchase a shotgun in violation of the no compensation rule; amending the By-Laws to finally make the honorarium gun legal will surely happen.

The Delegates are our representatives, it is their meeting and it will be them who speak on the issues. There has been several articles written on the importance of electing a responsible dedicated individuals as your Delegate. Even our ATA rules advise each of us to give this our utmost consideration. In my opinion, they failed to set a good example and show good character in this matter. But then again, I'm a member who believes rules are important in life and should also be equally applied to everyone.

Sure, a resolution was passed to amend the bylaws providing a gun to the outgoing President. So, I suppose the wrongdoing over past years was suddenly righted. I believe an ousted ED was rather vocal about this issue and it may have contributed to his demise. Word through the grapevine is the IRS remains interested in the outcome!
