Did Mississippi secede From the ATA or union again?

Mississippi lobbied successfully to change the gained yardage rules for the ATA's largest states. As per delegate from MS, they could not put together enough shooters to gain yardage. Easy yardage was hard to come by.

A score of 79 wasn't worth any yardage as they could not find 25 shooters. The ATA and attendance would be saved if only they could lower the standard to 15 shooters.

I checked with Oleolliedawg and no mention of all the Mississippi shooters at the Keystone.

I can only figure that Mississippi left the union. PA and OH are still stuck with the Mississippi rules. It is hurting attendance early in the big states.

    Wherever you Mississippians are....good luck.

Watch out Family Guy, fyi MS attendance is surging as a result of the new rule change. Their two gigantic shoots listed in Trap & Field this month had 11 shooters in one handicap event and 12 in another. Attendance will obviously increase even more and additional yardage earned if the yardage table is reduced even further. Let's get those small states in line for a new petition this year for a 10 shooter 1/2 yard punch! What a victory!

If Mississippi shooters want to earn yardage I suggest they put together a bus trip to the southern Ohio and the Kentucky area around Cincinnati. History has shown that the surest way to win yardage is to sign up post one, squad one, at a weekend shoot at a local club, and you are almost assured to win that yard. The 2 yards off and 2 yards off repeated hurt registered shooting before the Mississippi rule came around. I'm sure that if a bus trip could be organized, not only would the shooters from Mississippi be happy winning those yards that are unattainable in a 12 person shoot, but the local sandbaggers would be thrilled and the ATA would get more dollars in fees. Zeke...interesting thought. Getting a busload of Mississippians to share the costs of a trip to OH or PA.

Wishful thinking. 10 shooters would never offset the cost.

Dawg's idea of changing the rule to 10 shooters or lowering the minimum score to 78 has a better chance.

Another month goes by and MS is still unable to field 15 shooters in any Handicap event. Looks like a petition to reduce even further reduce the number of shooters required for yardage should be on the plate at this year's meeting!

Now that is some dog gone funny stuff. To what standards will we have to lower ourselves for Mississippi?

Would the delegate for Mississippi be happy if we just drew a card to see who gets yardage or will we have to lower the number of shooters to less than seven. In the meantime it is hurting attendance at small club shoots in the successful states. Continue the trend and it will be tougher to pay for those free guns and expensive motels.

Maybe a petition to ban the dirty 'dawg from posting some simple facts is needed on this site. They say someone called Crazy George is already pushing in his earplugs even deeper. That .25 call to the ATA office for a yardage increase is just as inevitable now for those tiny obscure states even after the yardage table changed. Another poorly thought out decision that only hurts attendance at small clubs!
