The ATA is crippled. No home for the big shoot? So where is the enthusiasm? I have yet to hear an argument from OH or PA that they want to be the new home of the ATA.

Frankly. I would hope that ATA has the common sense to look for land or a derelict industrial facility that it can buy and expand on rather than try to take over some established facility (like Elysburg) that is at capacity in the middle of a small town with no expandable parking, camping or accommodations and that has to compete for the few local resources with an amusement park that really draws crowds in the summer.

What do you want to hear? And why would a facility in either of those states "wanting to be the home of the ATA" spark an argument?

I don't think the OP means an argument like in a conflict. I think he's referring to an argument in this regard as "making a case for"... explaining and outlining what they could do and why they would be the best place for the new home of the ATA's premier event.

Pa. Is a terrific club, but no motels, few restaurants, camping spots
Are all mostly taken, and while they have parking, not enough for
    A shoot that size
    But, I could be wrong!

Ohio has been there, done that, and got the tee shirt. Not interested in the leftovers.

    Keep it.

An area so rich in trapshooting that they can create their own mega venues and support them.

I love the image "they can create.. "...what, snap of the fingers?, wave of a wand?, wish them into existence, out of thin air on one of there huge tracts of idle property? They do fine with what they have....no need to provide for the rest of the country.

Cardinal classic is the Grand for everyone in Ohio and PA . Just don't have the grand name in it but its getting bigger every year.

Different bait than your cast on July 8th but still trolling?

C'mon cook ( as in a county in Illinois), you can do better than that.

The grand needs to get re established in an area that is user friendly with infrastructure in place and not only on the wish list as its been for the past 11 years ... If the WSRC could be moved to an area where it did not add a continual daily travel routine to and from, it would be a gold mine and probably over run with shooters ... The HOF is not an attraction in a place where no one ( majority) is interested in going, staying for a week or two on an annual basis ... The ATA for some reason seems to be committed to having the grand in Sparta even though its proven to be a non performer for the State of Illinois though it has produced a profitable run for the ATA where by they increased their bank account considerably from 4 million to 12 million on hand and or invested ... Its in the best interest of the ATA to stay if they can get the State to pony up for the bills, with the exception of the attendance dropping off they still manage to make money ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Sparta may not have been the best location but it is there now.
Hope for the best and quit being prophets of doom & gloom. All the speculation has no fact to back it up. As I read thru this, just a lot of bad mouthing and personal vendettas show thru. If someone did wrong, file your complaint with the proper evidence and let the correct investigators follow thru. Fill out an IRS 3949A Form and mail it to Internal Revenue Service, Stop 31313, Fresno, California, 93888.
If all this results in a telephonic shoot, there will be a lot of bitching but don't drill holes in the boat without proof your in shallow water.

    Big Jack,
There might be an investigation brewing, some agency's move slower than others initially until they find (discover) any non compliance and then all Hell breaks loose ... It is my understand that many members have filed complaints with the Illinois Attn General as well as reported non compliance to the Feds based on the 501 (c) 3 tax status ... The ATA is obligated by laws to operate within the confines of certain standards to retain the tax status ... Once the flood gates open there will be a lot of things exposed that might not be just right and there will be many members who with rose colored glasses end up being surprised ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Only time will tell! If what you say proves to be true, their tax advisers will have a lot of questions to answer.
Until that time, let's try to enjoy what we have without stirring the mud.

I'm in the middle of trapshooting heaven. N.W. Penna. No matter where they move the Grand, it'll be a bit of a drive but our crew will no doubt make it. See you there! Where ever?

Not just OH and PA. More will attend that shoot than Sparta this year. I know some that say they have had enough.

BETTER THAT WE DIE THAN LET THEM GO BACK TO ANY PLACE TO THE EAST.

And with those words the ever faithful few raised their cups and shared the last of the drink they hoped would make them stronger.

    *Just a side note.
I think it was grape flavored but it could have been fruit punch. No records were kept.

Tax advisors never pay the fines or do the time.
