    As week 7 rolls around:

No one can find the adorable Punkin Flock. Who knows where she may be.....?

The ATA sent a letter out that seemed to feign surprise and faith. All this after the governor said he was going to close Sparta, vetoed funds for Sparta, and then closed Sparta. This illogical group of leaders would have us believe they were caught off guard.

There were no clues as to the outcome. Not even the following headlines in the newspaper gave a clue.
Rauner Passes on Grand American Invite.

Gipson's public remark was....."we were hopeful but we know he was busy."

    Get a clue...!

The ATA keeps saying 10 /12 million into the local economy and region, the States auditors tabulate it to be less than half of that (States Web site) ... There is serious doubt that the State is going to accept exaggerated numbers stated by Lynn (The Talking Head) Gipson who would really have no way of telling or anyway to back up his claim other that says its a guesstimate at best based on past performance in another state at another time ... The ATA claims to of generated 10/ 12 million to the local economy when they were in Vandalia (the Grand), they had a much greater number of attendees than they have ever had at Sparta so by applying a little common sense, logic, and reasoning how could the numbers remain the same ..? The ATA sold the State of Illinois a Bill of Goods and they took it hook, line, and sinker ... The attendance can be used to get approximate figures but even by using exaggerated numbers in doing so they still do not add up to the claims being made by the ATA ... The ATA cannot even get their story straight so they are probably going to keep making that claim until they can get people to start to believe it, which may take awhile ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I spoke with the owner of JAY'S Seafood Restaurant I guess in 2006 0r 2007 while out there on business.

I asked him if after loosing the Grand American did it impact his business much.

His answer: YES indeed it did, and not only my business but many others here in the Dayton area.

He said he had a group of regulars from the Grand American each year, and year after year they would bring their friends, and the friends would bring their friends...Business snowballed.

One thing he told me was he missed the Grand American, not only because of the loss of business, but the loss of seeing the group of Happy Guys and Gals year after year who stopped in to see him. He considered them family.

You didn't have to travel far to get into the swing of things in and around Dayton.

Not much to do in Sparta, so I don't know how that much could be spent.

    Could it be....

Let's say the EC had a good idea of the outcome. All they had to do was read this site. They would have known for months that the governor was telling the truth. The statement that Illinois planned to close the facility interfered with normal business operations.

Along comes the BOD meeting at the grand. The EC tells all we got it under control. They know the lease has been broken when the state made the first announcement months ago. At the BOD meeting they did not tell the delegates to vote on a contingency plan. Then another letter or two putting the BOD meeting further behind us.

The next BOD meeting is not for almost a year. Now the EC gets to make the decision.

    What could go wrong?

Does anyone have a clue what the "ATA" is working on/looking for ??????

A location for a shoot ????? or a new home for a "year-round" vendor and affordable housing for 'them'. Property(home) value in Sparta has to be much lower than a 'prime' location, so is the "ATA" working on 'moving' all three rings of the current circus ?????

The Illinois State Lottery is limiting winners payments to $600.00 or less until the budget gets passed or compromised and agreed on ... The people who claimed it was all a bunch of Political posturing and a power struggle are well past that point if they read the Illinois States web site, once the Legal actions get started, well soon the ____ will hit the fan ... This is getting nasty and ugly with numerous law suits being filed against the State for non payment to the Lotto winners, yet there is no let up or compromise in sight ... When asked what they thought of the closure of the WSRC many of the Sparta residents said "what" and "whats at, wheres at" ..? This looks like its going to take some time to get things settled but there is little doubt the EC, BOD, and Lynn (The Talking Head ) Gipson have things moving in a forward direction and there is nothing to worry about ... Mean while back at the Cardinal Center it appears shooting in moving along in a "Fantastic Direction" and they plan on being there for awhile ... WPT ... (YAC) ... (DSP) ...

From my other post ... "If the organization engages in an excess benefit transaction with a person having substantial influence over the organization, an excise tax may be imposed on the person and any organization managers agreeing to the transaction."

I wonder if a 5-figure shotgun gift may be "an excess benefit transaction" ?????? If so this is interesting, "an excise tax may be imposed on the person and any organization managers agreeing to the transaction.", notice it says "and" and not 'or'. Makes one wonder how much unpaid "excise tax", and penalties, "may be imposed on the person and any organization managers agreeing to the transaction."

K-80 Super Scroll combo I think, but it hasn't been a year yet, so that is just a guess.

And .... The "not-for-profit public charitable corporation" paperwork has not been approved. But thanks for caring.

Well, Matt (the MORON) Parker (grntitan) is still carrying on like he has shot trap all of his life , never shot until the grand moved to his back yard in Sparta, Ill but knows all there is to know about trap shooting and probably giving lessons on how to get to the 20 yard line in 10 years or bust ... I think he should be called Hoover because he has some great suction and he thinks anyone pays attention to him ... I love the way people refer to others and call them names on an internet sight but would love for him to try that just once face to face with anyone and he would be eating soup for quite awhile ... When the grand is forced to move from Sparta, he will never shoot another target ... Typical PC Rambo, but dumber than a box of rocks ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

WPT.. Egos abound don't they ?

I'm sure a lot of us who have been around this sport for a few years could write a book on people or experiences.

A retired Navy Chief used to call them the "Y'attas"...Y'atta do this or Y'atta do that.

All experts in their own rite.

    Regards....Gerald

    WPT,
Warning, if you belittle a box of rocks again by comparing them to said newbie, rookie, thinks he is a shooter JO, you will go on TRIPLE secret probation.

Hammer handles and fence posts are OK but lay off the box of rocks.
