Cardinal Center Complaints-Few

    OK, we're all back from a really nice shoot and fully enjoyed nearly every aspect. The few complaints I had can easily be addressed. Here they are;

The fish pond has really deteriorated-nothing but weeds and algae. No self respecting fish would like to live there and the kids found it un-fishable. Time for a cleanup.

The shooters recreation center (next to the pool) is starting to look a bit drab. The pool tables(if you wanted to call them that) were pathetic-torn covers, few balls, two nearly useless cues and no cue rack. Maybe the addition of a few video games would help.

Four trees in front of the practice trap made for some difficult visibility. A few minutes with a chainsaw could correct that.

That's it. The targets were a bit challenging but fair. We had no difficulty getting the banks we wanted. Even Harlan shot some of the supposed bad banks last week and only missed one Singles target. So much for that argument!

You obviously didn't stay for the handicap shoot off. There was quite a SNAFU. Then there was the vehicular traffic during doubles Sunday AM.
Some shooters had real issues rather than cosmetic problems.

    Target1,
Please elaborate on the conditions you described, you have left all of us in suspense.

The wind affects the targets less as those banks are more protected. Several of the better shots shoot there.

Well, since you ask. I shot on the second flight of doubles. First there was a pickup that drove west along the corn field in front of the trap line. Reminded me of Vandalia. Next was a car going the same direction, but he made a left turn, came across the field toward the trap line between banks 7 and 8. Obviously shooting had to stop. He came in to the 50 yd stake, waved at us, made a u turn and a hasty exit back the way he came in. I was told the farm road was blocked, but it was not blocked when we left the grounds.
Next, during the Handicap shoot off for winner thru 12 and category late in the day, at least two squads only shot 2 targets per post at the direction of the scorer, and the rest shot a full 25 targets. When the error was identified, the two squads affected had to return to the line and then shoot 3 additional targets per post. Obviously for most amateurs, that didn't produce the best results. It was a finger pointing contest as to who was at fault.

The fish pond does need plenty of attention, but it' still full of fish!

I'm sure it's full of fish but your bait stays on top of the weeds!

  11. Fished top water baits, swim baits, jig and pig, and misc. for 3 hours Saturday and Sunday combined. Not a single interest at the slightest. Fished early Am Sunday (7-8:15 am) and Saturday evening (6-7:45 pm). Probably ran between 15 and 20 different patterns, styles and critiques. All of which have caught bountiful fish in states across our great nation and a few that won the Forrest Wood Cup over the past weekend. From what the front office told me at the Buckeye Classic the pond about froze solid causing a near/complete "die-off" of functioning life in the pond. I would have to say dissolved oxygen levels are far far far below what most aquatic life must maintain for proper function. Undergrowth depleted necessary nutrients for fish to survive. During the Ohio State Shoot I had one bass hook-up and land was quite pitiful in size, shape and luster seemed "starved". Not banging any mandrels but the lakes at the WSRC and surrounding area provided a much more productive afternoon /or evening of fishing; due to vast size alone. Small ponds alike Cardinals hardly survive without human intervention of some sort such as a simple water fountain. Last year they made a hell of an attempt at depleting the undergrowth by dying the pond a deeper green/blue color which helped in some ways, but with the extreme winter the North Eastern United States went through no short comings of human intervention would have helped. This pond depressed me, but I took the short ride to Alum Creek and got my fill of prime inland lake fishing. Wish I had the boat with me but shooting was the main topic over the last 3 weeks, you can't take all of your toys with you.....

My lady caught several nice length bluegills(but thin)and I caught a 17 to 18 inch bass(also thin) with in about five casts on a natural colored plow jockey. The weeds were such a problem I quit after a couple more casts and relegated myself to putting worms on and taking fish off! The pond is depressing and should be filled in if it is not going to be maintained or managed professionally in an otherwise beautiful facility. It's a shame the fish are starving.

Bring in a back hoe and dig it a bit deeper so ice won't be that much a problem. Glad to hear about the plan!

    Leftout,

I would pm someone like Luke that cared enough to show up on the site.

The above post is the most classless post we have yet and needs to be put in HOF of silly posts. Maybe we can get you a brick for that one.

Someone with a little more class might realize their error, pm a mod and ask that the post be removed.

    This bricks for you.

But there are fish in it, right now. Someone said the pond may be oxygen starved. That seems like the correct answer. That's an easy, cheap, fix, right now. That water needs to be turned over.

Think of the little fishies that rely on you.

  18. Wouldn't mind to hear said projects intentions on the "ponds" reclamation. Issues at hand to be tackled? What the cardinal center and it's professionals see suited to be performed in such a case? Sustainability plan for the future /or maintenance plan? I have faith in the expertise of the cardinal centerbut wouldn't mind hearing the plan, as a patron of the fine establishment; I've rented a site for the last 10 years.

FG - I see you are working your basic plan attack anyone that doesn't drink your brand of koolaid. I merely asked a question of Luke, why wouldn't it be answered in public forum. It's a genuine concern of mine and others. I have paid for my next years camping have you?

Thanks for the two hate mails, shows the caliber of some of your followers or maybe one of your alter egos.

    Hmmmm

Leftout you CC hater. What is really bugging you? Why take it out on Luke? He is doing his best to bring us a summer full of shooting.

What could it be? You deserve the hateful person brick. One like this...

Based on what I spend per year at CC compared to you and your fellow flag waivers I would think Mr. Fishburn would want many more "haters", your words not mine. My fellow "haters" pump thousands into the place and drive 100's of miles to get there but we dare not make complaints or requests to make it better. If asking Luke questions Is taking it out on him then he is the wrong job. Personally I think he is man enough to take any criticism and would want some in order to make the place better.

But continue your personal attack on me, it just shows how really weak you are. Then again it's your site so you do as you wish.

Yeah you guys. When you jump on someone for saying something it sounds like that old site.

WHERE THEY ARE STILL TALKING ABOUT THIS ONE.

Funny, we were supposed to be gone by now.

You didn't really think you were going to come in here and NOT get jumped on did you?

If this was that old worn out "the ATA is all we have" site someone would have said something like,

Why in the hell don't you go back with the Kool-Aid drinkers and tell one another how great that money pit the WSRC is.

They would accuse you of being "big" don, whatever that is, and tell you that you are full of crap and that if you don't worship at the ATA alter you are not a "trapshooter" .

I have not seen that on this site.

Were you looking at the water line or the sewer line? The more you post on here the more you sound like Big Don from the site with all of the pop ups.

I can tell all why you "may" not want to approach Luke or Jake in person.

The answer is your screen name would be outed. You can be secretive here. That is OK by me. You just asked why.

If you were the "BIG" guy you would of course be welcome here and we would understand the silly post and the hatefulness. Until then....no excuse.
