Who first made the decision to shoot a maximum size of 7 1/2 shot?

The person who came up with the idea was a long time BOD/ Janitor member many, many years ago, he made lead in his garage at night and when he measured it the size was equal to 7 1/2's so in order to get rid of the shot he made he called all of his buddy's and asked if they can make it a rule so he can make room in his garage ... They had a special meeting and all agreed to help Botchie Galoopo (shot maker)get rid of all of the 7 1/2's he had on hand and it caught on and never got changed back to how it was before that ... You will never hear the name Botchie Galoopo because this was done unbeknown to the members just as many others things have been since ... His son tried to duplicate the shot and got what is known as 8's so they accepted 7 1/2's or smaller as a general rule and its still that way yet today ... History Buff, knows a lot of stuff, not sure even he knows about this ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Gee WPT, I have learned another lesson in our vast history...

Although I may have to get verification on this, it's the best (Only) answer as of yet.

Perhaps HB has something on this...

If I know him, he is digging very hard through his files at this moment..

    HB leaves no stone unturned.

This is truly a very interesting question that Inteldell has asked.

Gentlemen have any of you tried 1 1/8th oz of #6s, less shot but better breaks, I have been using this for years for buddy shoots, #6s have more weight/inertia to break those Federal and Lowery hard targets, I was shooting buddies last night and NO BODY was breaking them as hard as those #6s. I think shot size should be left to the shooter, it's his decision, what bad effect would #6s create trapshooting. I cannot think of even one reason.

The shot fall area will be increased considerably with 6's because of the kinetic energy due to the weight ... The old Phx club actually had shot go out to the traffic lanes on EL Mirage Road if larger shot was used ... I found it difficult to believe until we went out there and saw it for ourselves after we got warned about it ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
