One of the greatest places to shoot. Great because of all the imperfections. Tell me what you remember.

Shooting on the 27 yard line and having people sit on the wall about 3 feet behind you. Roger C.
You are meaning the shot at Stubensville, Ohio are you not?

Walkways were perfect. Just big enough for one shoe.

Winning a 10 peso gold coin belt buckle and MONEY for runner up with a 98 in the doubles. Shot off against my running buddy and missed 3. He didn't.

I was shooting on the 27 yard line, My back against the hedges and A HAND REACHES OUT FROM LOW IN THE HEDGES BETWEEN MY LEGS AND IS PICKING UP NEW AA HULLS, I looked back and it was a very young boy collecting hulls to sell, it did not bother me, I waited till he finished, and completed shooting station #3

Tri-State Grounds have been closed for years, All Trap equipment sold, West Virgina Home Grounds took over the Tri-State Shoot. Tri-State was in Stuebenville, Ohio in an old Coal Reclamation site.

Ladies and Gentlemen, let me introduce you to two of the best shooters I have had the privilege to shoot with and against.

I'm not going to put any names up but suffice to say when they walked or STILL walk to the line people know who they are.

AA27AA before the target change, multiple State teams, 200's in singles, 100's in doubles 98's 99's in caps, and shoot offs in front of the grand stands when the GRAND was in VANDALIA.
And two of the best Buds anyone could ask for.

I could write a book about shooting, hunting or fishing with these two jokers and you all would laugh your asses off.

I remember the giant gun rack in the outdoor seating area. Lots of great memories. We still shoot there on New Year's Day. 50 bird events and protectors.

I remember playing the slot wheel with the County sheriff standing right beside me betting away, that they used the Westy Hogan's shooting method for squads, the food was always good, the Calcutta was always big, and the gold coin trophies for sure.

It was also a very hard place to shoot, very poor background and no short two hole targets were thrown. It was a man's club for sure. Brad

    Like Shamus always said,

Get the women and kids off the street, the
    Gun Fighters are in town

You had to bring your A game to keep up with boys that showed up for that shoot.

There were big Calcutta's back in the day, Do you remember any of the shooters besides me? Bobbie Micekhowski ? That big cigar smoking Guy, that built steel bldgs. The guy that owned the restraint on I-70 in Cambridge, The Mafia buyers of shooters, The All American who reclaimed the stripmine land, And the lie that NW Said he shot there. $Thousands of Dollars in the Calcutta's, The Live Bird shooters who shot those Calcuttas, Aden Kauffman, Brad you shot there also didn't you? That was in the 70s, Stuebinville, Ohio, Across the river from Weirton WVA. Big Money Card Games were played too.Tony Olivito was a big time buyer of shooters, Buyers got 60-80% of the shooters money that they bought, depending on which weekend it was. Big John the cigar smoker, shooters came from far away places, WVA, PA, VA, MD, KY, MI, Getting old and names have slipped my mind, I see their faces. Boar Hog on the wall.
