I just picked up a nice monogun with beautiful wood that fits me perfectly, the catch is someone bubba gunsmithed the barrel. I found a guy who has a few nice barrels for sale. I'm no gunsmith but I've fit a few barrels before, has anyone ever fit a monogun barrel? Anything I need to look out for? Thanks guys

Did someone just "bubba gunsmith the barrel" ????? Or the receiver, locking bolt, and fore-arm iron also .....

What is the serial number of this Mono ????? They changed some things over the years that would make the barrel off Mono serial number 333 an impossible "home fit" on serial number 3333 Mono gun .....

If you could purchase the original fore-arm iron with a barrel from a Mono with a close manufacture date, and you were a decent "home-smith", then maybe ... Also assuming you checked things like the proper head-space on your past projects .....

FWIW ..... The barrel lock, aka "button", is the most hacked-up part on most older Mono guns ..... Making a home barrel swap project harder on a Mono than other brands of shotguns .....

I wouldn't expect Mike at Ljutic to give much advice on a home barrel swap .....

They may give a free estimate by phone, but that is the only thing that may be currently free from Ljutic ..... YMMV .....

I talked to mike at ljutic and he said it's too old. It's not really that bad it just looks like someone tried porting it with a cordless drill on the tailgate of a pickup then spray painted the barrel with grill paint. I cleaned up the ports the best I could on a mill. It going for cerakote next week.

What makes your Ljutic Mono "too old" to put a used barrel on ????? value ?????

Is "Mike at Ljutic" saying an "old" Ljutic Mono has ZERO monetary value because it is "too old" to replace parts, even if the parts are used ?????

The person with the barrels needs to know they have may have barrels that are "too old" and have NO VALUE, and should not sell them ..... as per "Mike at Ljutic" .....

"Mike at Ljutic" and the ATA layer of pipe have the same "fantastic direction" ideas .....

There were some barrels on eBay the other day. Worth a look.

Mike at ljutic was very helpful and informative, I asked about having them rebarrel it at the factory not fitting a used barrel.

You would have to obtain a Ljutic barrel that is in the same configuration as the one you have. Hooded/non-hooded, the same type hanger for the forend, etc. Things changed over the years.
