On a single barrel trap shotgun how far can the top lever be to the left before you need to get it repair/rebuild. thank for any info.

I never wanted mine past straight, I think it matters though more on what your make of trap gun is. Brad

I took my Diamond Grade unsingle 101 to R0ger Eubanks when the lever was straight. His comment was " it was time".
A friend with a Beretta waited and now both the receiver and the barrel block are needing help..... I believe Brad makes a good point as different guns have different locking systems...... Larry

When it is STRAIGHT it is ready to fix. I have seen some come open when the lever is to the left of center by just a little bit.

Heck, if it doesn't pop open upon firing, I guess I wouldn't worry about it.

However, you don't want it to start popping open right in the middle of the shooting season as a repair could take you out of some shooting. This is more of an off-season fix.

Once you hit 6 o'clock it's time to consider the above, or take your chances.

I dont get the OP post. Since we dont have a gunsmith forum? It is a forum about trapshooting. Repairing guns fits fine without another title or " category"?

Do we need a gunsmith forum. Just asking?

In my opinion the more you sub-categorize the site, the more looking around is required and you may miss something in the process.

Furthermore, one only needs to accurately construct a title to get whatever kind of gunsmithing question(s) answered.

On some other sites it's quite common that some folks, rather than answering a sincere question, advise the poster to "move it where it is supposed to be". I would rather just answer an inquiry if I could and get on with life......... Larry

The "title" of the thread ..... "Since we don't have" ..... sounds like the way a spoiled kid would talk to their mom, after finding out their favorite cereal was not on a grocery list .....

The lack of detail in the "question" ..... "On a single barrel trap shotgun" ..... not, on my BT-99 or my TM-1, or ?????

No reply after making a post asking a "generic" question .....

One has to "wonder" the "purpose" of a thread titled "Since we don't have" .....

I think the OP is pre-app0lgizing for not using another category. Kujoo is being politically correct on a forum that hates the thought of PC. It's been a long winter. Time for a meat shoot or 2.

Kujoo, while getting my Diamond Grade repaired I asked Roger about a friends TM1, his comment was that he needed to see a gun before making a "for sure" diagnosis but a lever in the 6 oclock position normally suggests it is time for a bit of attention.... Roger is a good source of parts for the TM1 as is Whizz White.......... Larry

Not my TM-1, a doctor has his uncle shotgun for sale and the doctor not into guns.

When I started shooting trap in the very early 70's I shot at a Winchester club a bunch, they had skeet fields and I shot some skeet for fun there too. I decided I like trap better for many reasons but one of the most important was I liked and identified with the trap shooters more than the skeet. Trap shooters were quick to help, would talk to a new kid who wanted to learn without being judgemental, and fun. Skeet shooters were more stuck up then so Trap it was for me. I hope that we on this form don't have a skeete attitude with newbies.

Everyone needs to lighten up with the new guys and gals and remember none on here was BORN an expert no matter what we claim. Brad

Brad, please, please, please do not let my wife hear that I might not have been born an expert and perfect....... 50 years we have been married and she still keeps me around......
You are correct on your post though. I look at other firearms sites quite often and note that many will inadvertently criticize the poster but there are many, many more that look at the new member as fresh meat. I also notice that for the most part if posters stay on topic and do not take the path toward comments of a personal nature the thread can produce useful information. This is all supposed to be fun and informative......... I like that........... Larry
